Our recommended kit offers the very best of our tray-based whitening products to give you a complete kit which can give you professionally whitened teeth for a fraction of the cost.

The Dr Collins 22% gel contained in the kit is extremely high quality - with a water based formula it helps prevent tooth sensitivity commonly associated with teeth whitening. Dr Collins is used by many dentists in the USA and UK for providing teeth whitening to patients - so you know you are getting exactly the same quality product as you would get at your dentist.

Due to the high strength you may find you get temporary tooth sensitivity often associated with tooth whitening, but this is kept to a minimum by the innovative water-based formula.

Step 1: Mould your whitening trays

Holding a tray by it's tab, dip in recently boiled water for 10 seconds. Pull the tray out and place over your teeth and apply pressure with your fingers. Once your trays are moulded, you do not need to this step again.

Step 2: Apply the whitening gel

Next step, apply the tooth whitening gel to your trays. You only need to put a small amount in each tooth indentation, around 0.25ml per tray in total. Next, place the trays over your teeth and wear for the recommended time. To find out the recommended wear-time for this product please click on the 'Product Details' tab.

After, remove the trays and rinse your mouth with water - you should start seeing results in 3 days with full results within 2 weeks!

How does teeth whitening work?

Stains and discolourations in teeth are caused by large, dark-coloured molecules building up within the tooths enamel and dentine. These stains come from food, drink, and smoking.

The active ingredient in teeth whitening gel works by soaking into the teeth through the micropores in the enamel and dentine. When it comes into contact with stains it breaks down into oxygen and water - it's the oxygen that works to 'oxidise' stains into smaller, white-coloured molecules giving your teeth a whiter appearance.

Will whitening damage my teeth?

As the active ingredient used in teeth whitening only works on organic stains, it leaves the inorganic hard tissues of your teeth (the enamel and dentine) unaffected!

Some teeth whitening gels are made to be quite acidic in order to extend shelf-life. These acidic gels can dissolve the hard mineral that makes up your tooth enamel.

However, all products sold by Dentstore are certified pH neutral and therefore will not damage tooth enamel.

Teeth whitening is a safe and highly effective procedure when all instructions are followed correctly. It is therefore important that you carefully read the instructions provided with your teeth whitening kit, and do not exceed the recommended wear times.

All the teeth whitening products sold by Dentstore.co.uk are pH neutral, and will not damage the hard tissues of your teeth (the enamel and dentine). All teeth whitening products however can cause temporary tooth sensitivity and gum irritation.

To avoid tooth sensitivity you can; decrease wear time, ensure you do not exceed recommended wear time, use a desensitising toothpaste or gel, whiten every other day during the initial whitening treatment. Any sensitivity will resolve within 1-2 days of stopping use of the whitening treatment however.

To avoid gum irritation you can; trim your trays so that they only sit on the teeth - any excess gel can then be wiped away from the gums, use less gel to make sure the trays are not overfilled.

Teeth whitening products will not whiten (nor damage) dental restorations. This may cause problems if you have 'white' fillings, crowns, or bridges towards the front of your mouth as your surrounding natural teeth will become whiter than the artificial restorations, and you may wish to have them replaced to correct any colour difference that may occur.

The use of tooth whitening products is not recommended immediately prior to or immediately after having dental restorations.

Teeth whitening is not suitable for use be people with severe gingivitis, periodontal disease, those who have recently had oral surgery, or those who have defective dental restorations. Teeth whitening products should not be used by pregnant or nursing women.

If in doubt about any of the above, we advise that you consult your dentist prior to using any tooth whitening product.
